The Utah Hospital Association’s annual Board of Trustees meeting wrapped up Friday in Sun Valley, Idaho, bringing together hospital leaders from across the state to discuss some of the biggest issues shaping healthcare.
This year’s conversations focused on artificial intelligence, how immigration challenges are affecting industries across the country, including healthcare, and the future of care in Utah.
UHA President & CEO Francis Gibson reflected on the association’s role in representing 65 hospitals across the state, including rural hospitals and larger urban systems. Each hospital serves a different community, but all are working through many of the same challenges facing healthcare today.
Artificial intelligence was a major focus of the meeting. Gibson noted that more than 450 active AI projects are already underway in Utah hospitals, making AI a present-day leadership issue rather than a future possibility.
The annual meeting gave Utah hospital leaders time to step back, share perspective, and focus on how hospitals can continue serving their communities in a changing healthcare landscape.
