The big picture: The Cancer Care & Infusion Center at the Uintah Basin Medical Center is transforming cancer care in rural Utah. Patients in Roosevelt now receive expert treatment and compassionate support—without the exhausting five-hour round trip to Salt Lake City.
Why it matters: Local access means less time traveling and more time with family. “Cancer [care] sometimes isn’t about curing—it’s about caring,” says Infusion Center Manager Stashia Dahlberg. The center’s telehealth program brings both advanced medicine and personal connection to neighbors and friends.
The human side: Staff see their work as a calling, not just a job. “Even if it’s just a smile or sitting down to talk, we’re here on what might be the worst day of someone’s life,” says Dahlberg. “You might not be able to fix it, but you can hold their hand through it.”
Dahlberg and her team are committed to making sure patients feel supported, comfortable, and seen—every step of the way.
